The delights of Nice and the French Riviera

The French Riviera is an idyllic part of France and the location of the fifth largest city in the country; Nice. Nice is a very popular city with tourists because it has a great deal to see as well as being located right on the Mediterranean Sea, where fantastic beaches can be enjoyed and there is a great deal of sunshine throughout the year. The city is visited by thousands of tourists every year and this does not just occur in the hottest months in the summer.

If you have visited Paris before then coming to Nice is going to be a very different experience. You will really feel as if you are in a different country as these two cities are incredibly different. If you think about rainy days in Paris, then you will probably be surprised when you come to France and realise that Nice is a city that has palm trees and near tropical weather in the summer.

One reason why Nice is such a great holiday location is because it caters to a wide variety of people. For example, if you are coming here just for a weekend break them you are going to be able to enjoy some sunshine, while if you’re visiting for a longer time, you’ll be able to explore the city in depth.

The French Riviera is certainly a place of glamour, and there are many modern attractions in the city, however Nice also has a great deal of history and this is no more as is evident than in the Old Town, which is located very close to the main port in the city.

In this part of Nice you will find a large number of shops and small cafes tucked away in the back streets, these can be a delightful place to browse for a few souvenirs, or enjoy a hot cup of coffee.
