Soak up some culture as well as the sun in Nice

If you want to just laze on some glorious beaches by the Mediterranean Sea, enjoy some fantastic shopping or soak up a bit of culture while enjoying the experience of a luxury hotel, then Nice could be the place to go. The city is located in the South of France and enjoys a very pleasant climate with mild winters and hot summers.

So you can imagine that the beaches are pretty popular here and one of the most popular is the Baie des Angels. It is certainly a beautiful stretch of golden sand. But beaches are certainly not all that Nice has to offer. It is full of luxury hotels and one of these is the five-star Palais de la Mediterranee which overlooks the Baie des Angels.

It is certainly luxurious, complete with heated swimming pool. Turkish baths, casino, health and beauty spa and several restaurants. One of these is the Relais Bar which is in a sort of English style with wooden paneled walls and velvet-covered seating. Then there is the Michelin-starred Le Chantecler restaurant which speaks for itself.

For some culture be sure to visit the Musee Chagall which displays some of the work of Russian stained-glass artist, Marc Chagall. He lived and worked in Nice for quite a number of years. On display are some of his Biblical prints, gouache paintings and lithographs.

The Cours Saleya flower market is another place that is well worth a visit. It is open six days a week but gets extremely crowded so it is best to get there early. It is a great place to pick up some fresh bouquets or exotic plants and also fresh fruit. So, you can see that there is plenty to see and do in Nice apart from lazing on the beach.
