French football has been governed by French Football Federation, i.e. FFF. It goes on with the organization of both, women’s and men’s national teams of football. The credit for introduction of contemporary football goes to English sailors, who were known for playing in the year 1872 in Le Havre. French Football Federation

FFF, i.e. French Football Federation can be referred to as the governing organization of French Football. It performs the task of organizing Championnata Nationaux, French Football League, and women’s and men’s national teams. FFF is located in Paris, the French capital.

The formation of FFF can be traced to the year 1919, when CFI (Comite francais interfederal), founded in the year 1907 got transformed in to FFFA, i.e. Federation francaise de football association. The legal status has been placed under jurisdiction of Association loi de 1901. The affiliation of FFF to FIFA has been since the year 1907, after succession attained by CFI in terms of representing France with regards to Union des Societies Francaises de Sports Athletiques.

In the year 2006, FFF had around 2143688 licensees, inclusive of 1850836 players. The new-fangled crest was unveiled in the year 2007. New Jersey for 2008-09 is previous Jersey’s modern version worn at the time of 1998 World Cup Championship of theirs.

Domestic competitions

Domestic Leagu System of France has been run by Ligue de Football Professionnel. They run Ligue 1, Ligue 2, and National Ligue on the professional front and Championnat de France Amateurs, Championnat de France Amateurs 2 on the regional level. This is the soccer competition held especially for women. It had been resurrected in the year 1974 under FFF’s wing. From 1918 to 1932, competition of the same kind was held by FSFSF.

Competition

This league is being competed by twelve teams which play against each other- once away and once on the home ground. After the 22nd match, the top 4 go on with battling out in playoff. The winner is then called ‘champion’. The lower 2 clubs get relegated in to bottom league, thereby having them replaced by two belonging to second division. Like the other competitions of French football, 4 points get awarded for win, 2 for draw, and 1 for defeat.

Ligue 1

Ligue 1 can be referred to as Monegasque and French football’s top division. It’s amongst the 2 divisions comprising of LFP, another being Ligue 2. This division has been known in the form of an all-time professional one since the inception in the year 1932, barring 1943-44 season, at the time of which professionalism was abolished by Vichy regime. It has switched between eighteen and twenty team format a number of times, after the Second World War. Right now, 20-team one is being followed.
